Painter Valentin Ripert alias "Onesper

The work consists of two paintings by painter Valentin Ripert, alias “Onesper”. It underlines the connection between generations and the way we look back on the past.

CROSS-VIEWS

This painting shows a mother and daughter on the beach at Valras. It’s an emotionally-charged picture in which everyone can identify, recalling family vacations by the sea.

In this painting, the years have passed, and the woman looking out at the sea is none other than the little girl in the painting on the left, who has grown up and is returning to the footsteps of her childhood.

In both paintings, the vacation hotel can be seen in the background. A nod to the things that remain despite the passage of time.

This work emphasizes the evolution and passage of time, while preserving the essence of memories.

A WORD FROM THE ARTIST

As an artist, I wanted to capture harmony and serenity through these works, relying on geometry and graphic balance. My intention was to convey an atmosphere of calm, while instilling a certain dynamic, using black, white and gold tones. At the same time, I sought to introduce a touch of visual impact through sharp contrasts, while sublimating the light through the use of gold leaf. These elements bring a dazzling brilliance, playing with reflections and giving the whole a precious, timeless aura.

MIRA-MAR, A FAMILY AFFAIR

Following on from the small Mira-Mar (created in the 20s) which was destroyed during WW2, Fernande and Louis Rouquette built the current Mira-Mar in 1953. Their daughter, Suzanne, and her husband, Jean Lengay, succeeded them and made it prosper.
Today, the establishment is still run by the same family, in the 4th generation.
